About Us

MISSION:

To inspire, empower, and enrich the lives of children in our communities through sports.

VISION:

To provide access to sports programs without barriers. SWB is committed to helping youth realize their potential in sports and in life.

Sport Without Boundaries (SWB) is a non-profit organization based in Winnipeg. The organization is dedicated to providing access to quality sports programs for all children under 18, regardless of their background. It was founded in 2019 by Gode Katembo, a former refugee from East Africa. Gode's own experiences overcoming adversity through sports in Canada inspired the creation of SWB.

Despite financial challenges, Gode received support from his church community, which allowed him to pursue sports from ages 13 to 18 and eventually play at the college and university levels. Recognizing the barriers faced by BIPOC and low-income youth, Gode launched the "Free to Play" program to offer sports opportunities to underprivileged children in Winnipeg. SWB is committed to removing the obstacles that prevent these youth from experiencing the transformative power of sports.
